At Luminous Sanctum, we often speak about community, resilience, and showing up for one another. Benita Wiley is a living example of what that truly looks like.
Benita is a member of our extended community, known to many through our TikTok lives and Lion’s Den space.
This year (2026), Benita chose to take a powerful step — participating in the Shave for a Cure in honour of her late husband, Patric, who passed away from cancer.
What she carried that day was more than grief. It was love, courage, and a willingness to turn pain into purpose. At South Bank Parklands, surrounded by community, Benita shaved her head as an act of remembrance and awareness.
Sandy stood beside her to support her through the moment — a simple but meaningful act of care and solidarity.
Luminous Sanctum was honoured to stand with her. The Pink Community Lion from LS Inc. Lion’s Den was brought forward to offer a blessing — bowing in respect and sharing energy with the space and the people present.
This was not just a performance. It was a moment of connection. Alongside the event, we hosted a live session while Benita also shared her own voice online.
She spoke openly about cancer — raising awareness, sharing warning signs, and offering insight from her lived experience. Her words reached many, creating space for learning, reflection, and support.
Benita’s strength is not defined by the loss she has faced, but by what she chooses to do with it. She continues to show up — not only for herself, but for others who may be walking a similar path.
Benita embodies what Luminous Sanctum stands for: community, courage, and the willingness to turn hardship into something that helps others.
